Are we influenced by the media?

The Samarbeta Jämt project wants to influence the development of a more equal society. One of the areas in which the project works is to raise understanding of how the media divides women and men. This is to build opinion against the increased  sexualisation of girls and women in our surroundings.

There are very good links to material on the influence of the media here: links

In 2005 Mona Sahlin, government minister, said this on the subject:
"A flood of stereotypical gender images reach us every day, through media, advertising, films and computer games. Often they speak the same language as pornography. Women and girls objectified and sexualised, their bodies used to market goods and services. Men and boys are also exposed in a prejudiced fashion.

You can also download our brochure on how we are influenced by the media

If your organisation is registered, you are welcome to discuss the subject at the discussion forum. Logga in först!
